James River Cellars Winery, opened to the public in 2001, is a family-owned Virginia winery specializing in 100% Virginia wines including whites, reds, dry, and sweet varieties. Pioneers in planting Gewürztraminer in the state, it is now owned and operated by founder Ray Lazarchic's daughter Mitzi and her husband James, with a vineyard on 20 acres in Montpelier. Conveniently located near Richmond, it offers a tasting room, events, expansive patios, and family/pet-friendly experiences.
